Poplar, Maple and Birch Oval Table with Falling Leaves, possibly New York, c. 1690-1730, the top on baluster-turned legs and square gates, on trestle feet joined by a stretcher, refinished, h. 26 1/2, wd. open 40, dp. 38 1/2 in.
Provenance: A Boston area collection.

no noticeable warp to top or boards, original plank of poplar affixed to the top of the underside, to which the posts are fixed via dovetails; the hinges are probably the third set but they are handmade wrought hinges.
