Painting of a Scene from the Sur Sagarof Surdas, India, Rajasthan, Mewar, early 18th century, ink, color, and gold on wasli, depicting scenes from the poem's description of Krishna, the poet depicted in a pavilion at lower left, inscribed within a yellow border at the top, framed and glazed, sight size 13 x 8 5/8 in.
Provenance: Purchased in the U.S. in 1972 and descended in the Steig family.
