Signed "A. Rodin" l.r., stamped faintly "...EXIS RUDIER FONDEUR/PARIS" at l.r. edge.
Bronze with green/brown patina, height 14 1/2 in. (36.8 cm),on a round marble plinth.
Condition: Unobtrusive surface grime/dust.
N.B. Rodin has long been known for his sensual yet muscular figures of women. Tête de la Luxure derives from a detail of his 1882 Femme Accroupie, which was created for a set of bronze doors for the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, better known as The Gates of Hell. This same figure was also adapted into the composition for Je Suis Belle, also a part of the Gates.
