Two Framed Etchings on Sailing Themes:
Nell Brooker Mayhew (American, 1876-1940) Homeward Bound, titled and inscribed on back mat, color etching with hand embellishment; and Joseph Gray (British, 1890-1962) Off Volendam, signed "Joseph Gray" l.r. and numbered "XXI" l.l. beneath the image, identified on a label from The Casson Galleries, Boston, on the frame backing paper, etching on laid paper. Plate sizes to 7 7/8 x 11 7/8 in. Condition: Volendam with foxing, Homeward trimmed to or within the plate mark, not examined out of frames.
Estimate $100-200
Homeward Bound image measures 6 3/4 x 4 7/8 in. and has a Foster Brothers, Boston, label on the frame backing paper.
