Handscroll Depicting a Gated Garden, China, in the manner of Qiu Ying (1494-1552),with a noble couple strolling in a garden with peacocks, blooming trees, and rockery, populated with female servants and musicians as well as male guards near and outside the garden gate, inscribed at the beginning "Shifu Qiu Ying bu tu" with a seal reading "Shizhou," ink and color on silk, painting 11 7/8 x 96 in.
Provenance: From the estate of Kai Suhr, who supplied Chiang-Kai-shek's army in China between the years of 1938-1939.
Estimate $1,000-1,200
in good condition with some signs of aging on silk, loss of pigment.
