Portrait of Ella Pettingell. Unsigned, the subject identified on an engraved brass plaque below. Oil on canvas, 27 x 22 in., in a period gilt-gesso frame. Condition: Relined, scattered retouch.

Note: Ella Pettingell was the daughter of Enoch A. Pettingell (1812-1870) and Sarah B. Ordiorne, born November 19, 1849. She married Laurence Taylor in Boston around 1867. A family genealogy accompanies the portrait. Her father's portrait is lot 274.
